Iain Dowie is eyeing up a move for Ecuador international striker Ivan Kaviedes.
Kaviedes, 26, has been on trial with the Eagles, and although he's under contract with Barcelona de Guayaquil, in Ecuador, Palace hope to sign him up.
"It's one we'll monitor over the next period of time, it's an area we're looking at closely," Dowie told skysports.com.
"He got 30 or 40 goals for Barcelona in Ecuador last year so he's not available on a free. He's a very talented boy."
Palace assistant manager Kit Symons added: "We've had a little look at Ivan and he's an excellent player with fantastic ability.
"He's certainly one we're interested in. Technically he's top, top class. He's been around the place, the manager has spoken to him, he's an impressive kind of lad and we're certainly very hopeful with that."
