Burnley v Palace

Turf Moor, Saturday 3.00pm

Kagisho Dikgacoi

Kagisho Dikgacoi

Team news

Midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi will sit the match out after picking up a hamstring injury while on duty for South Africa last week. Nathaniel Clyne is missing with a knee problem, so Paul McShane will continue to deputise.

David Wright (calf) and Jon Williams (broken leg) continue their rehabilitation. Sean Scannell has a tight calf but should be available for selection, along with Dean Moxey who has fully recovered from his knee injury.

Burnley duo Junior Stanislas (hamstring) and Michael Duff (dead leg) face late fitness tests ahead of Saturday's match.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"KG flew halfway around the world after the West Ham game for a meaningless friendly. I'd like an explanation from the people who arranged it. And if they explain that then I'd like them to explain why they shouldn't pay his wages while he is out.

"They sit back in their offices and show no consideration to players that have just come out of a period where they have played 12 games in January and February.

"I don't think we are quite capable this year of making the top six, but looking back on the season, I think if we finished mid-table it would be a tremendous achievement. Last year, we were in a relegation battle, so I think you have to be realistic and remember it is practically the same team, with a few new additions. I have a great bunch of lads and they all want to push on with this club."

Steve Parish

"People are starting to realise that we are putting something together – we aren't a Leicester or a West Ham and can't go throwing money at it.

"We are building something and everybody is going in the right direction – we have the right people at the club and are working hard, but these things take time.

"There are lots of frustrations – the stadium and infrastructure – but you have to tackle one thing at a time. That is what we are doing to move the club forward and everyone is doing their little bit.

"This season has been okay and we had a good cup run – in hindsight that has perhaps impacted on our play-off hopes. It is going to be difficult, but there are quite a few games left in the season to sneak in.

"We won't focus on next season until this one is dead – we still have an outside chance of a play-off place.

"We all know we need more goals and we have got to bring some in, but we also have to make sure we supplement the goals we already have in the team."

Assistant boss Jason Tindall

"We need to get the final push off to a good start against Palace. We haven’t hit the standards we have set in the last few games, and we need to bounce back quickly now.

"The lads were devastated after Saturday, after being in total control in the game. To lose was really disappointing, and to concede the goals we did was annoying. But we try and take positives out of every game, and we have to learn from that.

"Palace are on a great run, they are organised and difficult to beat, but we will be well prepared, and if we achieve the standards we have shown many times this season, it is a game we can win.

"Palace have some exciting, dangerous young players, and it’s going to be tough, but we also have young, exciting talent and hopefully we will come out on top."
