Ambrose flies the nest

Darren Ambrose departs Crystal Palace to join Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old midfielder had a year left on his contract but Palace decided to cash in with a package understood to be worth in the region of £1million in total.

The former Ipswich man joins ex-Eagle Hayden Mullins who also signed for the Blues this week.

Ambrose, two has signed a 2 year deal with the Midlands club told their official website: "I'm absolutely delighted and buzzing at the moment. I can't wait to get going.

"It's been a hectic few days to get it done but this a positive move for myself at this point in my career and I can't wait.

"Hopefully we can improve as a team on last year (defeat in the npower Championship play-off semi-finals) and go one better."

Ambrose leaves after making 124 appearances for the Eagles and scoring 37 goals.
