Goalkeeper Neil Alexander has joined Hearts after being released by Crystal Palace.
The Scot's one-year contract has come to an end and he will now return north of the border to become a player-coach for the Championship outfit.
Alexander, 36, joined Palace last summer as a back-up to Julian Speroni after the former Scotland international was let go by Rangers.
He only played once for the Eagles which was in August's Capital One Cup tie at Bristol City where Palace were humbled 2-1.
"As a boyhood Hearts fan, I am delighted to join a club I have supported for many years," Alexander said.
"With the coaching side of it as well, this is a fantastic opportunity for me. I'm excited at the challenge ahead."
He joins young keepers Ross Fitzsimons and Tom King in leaving Palace since the season finished, while Lewis Price is attracting the interest of Mansfield Town.
