Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"We need to win more than half our home games and I think we can do that this year. We lost to Arsenal; I was really pleased with the performance, but we need to turn that into a result at home.

"Villa have started well and Tim's brought in a whole new batch of players. The two games they've played they've been cohesive and Tim will be pleased with that. Obviously they've got talent there, so it will be a difficult game."

Patrick Bamford

"The manager said to me I’ll get my crack at No.9, and when I get it, it’s up to me to keep it. In my head I think I know I can play at this level. It’s just a case of waiting for my chance and then getting myself into it as fast as I can.

"I have to believe, because if I didn’t there would be no point in doing all of this. In my head, if I don’t get a shot at Chelsea, personally, I think I will have failed. It’s only a year loan [with Falcao], which kind of spins back to me on a positive. If it’s a year loan and I do well, then you never know what can happen."

Tim Sherwood

"I want us to attack more than we did against Manchester United. We lacked a bit of guile and punch going forward. Carles Gil and Jack Grealish came through an Under-21s game on Monday. It's good to have them back. Losing two creative players like that is a big loss. They're very technically gifted. Jack is such a talented boy. His talent is immense."
