Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"Perhaps 10 games gives you a better feel of the division. We know that. But what can I say, over five games we have been right there.

"Spurs have some outstanding players. I'm a big fan of [Harry] Kane, [Nacer] Chadli and [Christian] Eriksen. They will definitely finish in the top ten.

"I can cope with winning 3-2, 4-3, 5-4. The bottom line is I want this team to think about scoring goals. The players are smiley and happy. We're going to go out and try to take the game to Spurs.

"A clean sheet is very important for results. If we'd got one against [Manchester] City, that would have been great and we were one minute away."

Mauricio Pochettino

“The Premier League is the most difficult competition in the world. This is true. And this affects your performance in the Europa League or the Champions League.

“Can the English teams get back to the top in Europe? I don’t know. You have Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain. There is a lot more money [than there was].

“They can also play with reserve teams in their domestic competitions and still win. For teams like us, like Manchester United, it is not easy to play in the league after a European game. It’s more difficult.”
