Yannick Bolasie

Crystal Palace claimed an important away point after a 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

Yannick Bolasie's late equaliser help moves Palace up to 39 points and closer to mathematical safety from relegation with the Eagles now three games unbeaten.

Arsenal dominated the encounter with more than 70 per cent possession and 21 shots, compared with the Palace's seven, but they could not break down a resolute defence.

The South Londoners were on the back foot from the start with Alexis Sanchez firing a free-kick that deflected wide, then Wayne Hennessey saved Mesut Ozil's effort with his legs.

Palace striker Connor Wickham spurned a decent chance by miscuing his header before Arsenal finally got the goal their dominance deserved right on half-time. Danny Welbeck flighted an inch-perfect lob to Sanchez, who stole in front of Pape Souare, to nod over the onrushing Hennessey and into the net.

Bakary Sako came on for Mile Jedinak at half-time to give Palace a more attacking threat but the Gunners continued in search of another goal with Alex Iwobi and Sanchez going close.

Ex-Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor was then introduced to the fray as Arsenal had further attempts from Welbeck and Sanchez, who headed inches past the post.

Petr Cech had to be alert to tip over Sako's header from a corner and Arsenal sub Olivier Giroud perhaps should have done better with his shot.

However nine minutes from time, and against the run of play, Bolasie snatched a dramatic leveller with an arrowed shot from long range that flew inside Cech's near post to the delight of the travelling support.
