I wonder how the move went for him

i remember at the time on here saying he wasnt going to sign because it dragged on & on...think the warnock comments swang it personally...certain posters were adamant there would be a pitchside signing on his 16th birthday.

he was badly advised by his father & stretford at the time.

He should've listened to us, he had the position with us to bring his game into fruition under the correct guidance of our club and in doing so keeping his feet on the ground, instead he was swept away placed under a huge spotlight (the absolute worst thing he needed) and all his potential was incinerated by that awful club.
His action at the time caused our reaction which was obviously horrible and nasty, football is extremely personal and when he left us he basically said 'Sod off!' he must surely understand this.

I recall most of the anger was directed at those around him or seemingly gained any benefit from his obvious talent. This is the problem with younger players - strikes me an early move is rarely a good thing and especially at 15. Look at Egbo, who went to Germany. (Not always the case, of course).
I have no idea why he hasn’t succeeded since. Maybe he needs to be the biggest fish in the smallest pond, I don’t know.
He had obvious talent but was still young and perhaps needed a team built around him, as Warnock/Jordan seemed to suggest, rather than to have to fit in. Most clubs don’t sign youngsters professionally until 17 for a reason - they can have a better idea of how they will develop/cope etc, so it feels like it was a combination of speculative greed from Spurs (one sharp eye on his sell-on value) and perhaps the same closer to home from those that were meant to look after, guide and advise him, I’d say. (But I don’t know so just going from a dodgy old memory and heresay).
Massive shame. I have no ill feelings (not that my views are remotely important or relevant) and wish him well. I just think it’s a rather sad tale of greed and the manipulation of a 15 year old kid. I bet, however, that there’s no one around, who was involved from Spurs or anywhere else that gives so much as a minor toss.

Kids of that age are absolute morons. They think they know everything but actually know nothing.

A super gifted footballer must be about as detached from reality as they come.

I don't blame his family either. You think your kid is Messi II...I mean they are brilliant and every top club in the world wants them. You want to believe it so badly. The club you support is 100% irrelevant at that moment.

The only hope was wisdom, but it didn't prevail. s*** happens.

In fact - maybe those who agree - we should start a petition to get him back to Selhurst Park.
