Cameron and the Eton elite and the vast majority of Tory MPs since way back are all class warriors. They have fought tooth and nail for their class and throw out a few crumbs as required to keep the rest docile and unquestioning.

Marx was right about a helluvalot of things too.

Yeah Michael, says the man that has thrived from playing the system, retiring at 50, and looks forward to his gold plated pension. How much do you contribute to the homeless or the sick whilst taking yours, whether you deserve or not?

I have stayed away for two months but the above hypocrisy is too much to bear.

You are just as much a Tory as those you label above yet you can't admit to it.

Not getting enough attention on the BBS, Matthew? Never mind. You know you're always going to get some here and here it is. Welcome back.

I trust you have come to terms with UKIPs failure now after so much wasted energetic effort on here.

About 3,000,000 more votes than Comrade Corbyn is going to get.

Well the far left posters seem to think that Corbyn is the mut's nuts. They don't see him as an idealistic clown who would place this country in great danger, but then they'd be happy living in a Marxist utopia where the rich and upwardly mobile are burnt at the stake whilst money is lavished on the terminally selfish, stupid and lazy.
Welcome to socialist paradise.

Frankly it's this sort of drivel which makes me fed up, all this tedious tribal crap. It works both ways, I remember someone commenting that 'he's a Tory, he must have a hidden agenda' on the Guardian.

People's instinctive repulsion to those they see as opposition politicians is pretty depressing.

How do you know Corbyn wants to take us back to the 80's? What makes you think he's friends with Hamas? Why is boycotting Israeli goods a bad thing? I've heard he wants to invest to help manufacturing and tech business grow, so why do you assume has contempt for the middle class, whatever that is?

Dreary political name calling is partly why many people are apathetic about politics - if Corbyn seems able to engage people in the policy again that's at least a start.

1) That's the nature of politics, it's inherently tribal. If it depresses you why read comments on a political thread?

2) Do you think I just plucked those statements out the air? I read a fair amount about Corbyn and those statements come from somebody who used to work for him, who eventually became a Tory she was so fed up with Corbyn's extreme politics.

If Corbyn is the new Michael Foot, then that's infinitely preferable to Milliband as the new Neil Kinnock, to my mind.

I have first hand experience of Corbyn from way back - at the time I was a bit of a leftie, Labour party member, trade unionist and all that jazz and we (BT)went on a national strike - prob about 1991-ish

Anyhoo the POEU got JC and The Beast of Bolsover down to give us a pep talk in London - utter dogmatic. polemic gibberish without any foundation in the real world from start to finish from the pair of them...

Does anyone think he will get over 50% of the votes and as a result there won't be any need for the lowest candidate to drop-out and the voters re-distributed etc etc ? And what will be his chances if indeed the latter situation occurs ?

I must say I haven't given this much thought hence interested to know what people think. Perhaps I should join #ToriesForCorbyn !!!!

Why do the lefties think the future is to go backwards?

Corbyn is the measure of the dearth of credible candidates in the labour party, Just like that wet blanket Millibland was their best man last time, their would be chancellor didn't even win his seat.

He just has a load of student Union policies and suddenly he's their best man, he just needs the Che Guevera T Shirt and a pint of snakebite. hardly re-inventing the wheel.

It's the beginning of the end for Labour, it's just a slow painful death and many years in the political wilderness.

Well where to start! The guys as marxist as they come. Anyone see him on the Andrew Marr show on Sunday? I was listening to BBC Radio 5live this morning on the way to work and apparently even Tories are signing upto the Labour party and putting in a vote for him in the leadership race, along with hard line crazy leftists. Would be hilarious if he won the leadership contest. Labour would be even more unelectable, which serves them right after what they've done to this country.

So which part of his proposed policies do you not agree with and why?

How will he make labour more unelectable?

I'm genuinely interested in what you think about 70% of the public agreeing with rail nationalisation.

What are your concerns about Corbyn's plans for a national bank?

Do you not agree with investment for growth?

1) Nationalising the railways? That didn't work

2) He wants to return to the politics of the eighties

3) He's another union stooge

4) Has utter contempt for the middle class, which makes up a big swave of the population.

5) He won't deny that he's a marxist and has the support of extreme left factions, need I say more.

Edited by fed up eagle (27 Jul 2015 5.33pm)

1) Nationalising the railways? That didn't work - privatization isn't working. We are paying more to subsidize a railway that gives out a dividend to share holders for investing in something that doesn't work. Not really Hayek more of even more welfare for the rich.

2) "He wants to return to the politics of the eighties" - this is just a very tired old cliche

3) "He's another union stooge" - another tired old cliche.

4) "Has utter contempt for the middle class, which makes up a big swave of the population" - this is not based on anything he actually says. He does want to tax the very wealthy in a more equitable way to redistribute wealth. But they will still be well off.

5) "He won't deny that he's a marxist and has the support of extreme left factions, need I say more" -
its not illegal to be a Marxist but I wouldn't say he is a Marxist, for example he doesn't believe in a revolution of the proletariat. Maybe he has some sympathy with the Marxist diagnoses but not the prescription. Marx was brilliant at the diagnosis. But you are just applying "Marxist" and "extreme left factions" in the tired bogeyman cliche way.

The Telegraph article is an embarrassment for anyone who questions what they read or isn't a full on Tory just waiting to grab hold of any bunch of tired old cliches.

Neo-libralism was new and shiny in the 80s but it doesn't work for enough people. It works for a few people amazingly well and they are getting richer and richer and richer, but the wealth is being sucked up and not trickling down. Its time there was a political party to properly challenge it.

Why not look at his policies. If you don't like them argue against them. That's fair enough. But why just regurgitate tired old cliches that solidified in your head as a result of reading a bias newspaper over an over again? Its as if you repeat them without even thinking anymore.
