Hancock filmed The Rebel at Bingham Halt. Lovely, classic old station up some steps. Not the same now it's a tram crossing.

Funnily enough Rebel was the name of my uncle's dog.

Many years ago at The Hexagon Theatre in Reading I saw a most enjoyable play called "The Ghost Train" written in 1923 by Arnold Ridley better known as Private Godfrey in "Dads' Army"

the bloke who built Dulwich village didn't want a train station in the village so you have east Dulwich , west Dulwich and north Dulwich . south Dulwich would have been nice as I reckon it would be 2 minutes from my house rather than the 15 it is to east Dulwich .

Is not Sydenham Hill in Dulwich too? I once had a nasty strain on my ankle from running down the bridge stairs. Had to go to Beckenham Hospital. It's all OK now though.

Used to watch the Golden Arrow, pulled by a four cyclinder 4-6-0 Lord Nelson class loco, steaming through the Penge Tunnel. If you were lucky you could stand in the smoke on the footbridge as it went by.

Sydenham Hill most certainly is Dulwich, was always the major question what was the best bet to go to after school to catch the train , West Dulwich (flat road from the college and nearer) or Sydenham Hill up hill but the train arrived later.

there is a disused railway tunnel in Sydenham hill wood , its all boarded up but looks pretty impressive . if you then walk over Sydenham hill into wells park you can see the other end of it .

It's the old line from Nunhead to Crystal Palace High Level.

it don't really go anywhere and its all in the dark but if a screaming witch , a headless man and dusty spiders is your sort of train journey I recommend it
