The Last Great War: British Society and the First World War. Adrian Gregory. Excellent examination of the home front.

3 Points: Beevor's Stalingrad is an great book, and it is well worth reading Berlin, and the Spanish Civil War too.

Superfly: I read most of those as a teenager, and occasionally pick one up to re-read. Wonderful writer.

Book 4 of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King - Wizard and Glass.

These books are bloody addictive.
