Ploughing through Simon Kernick's thrillers at the moment. Currently reading "Target" which, like all his books I've read so far, is well written, fast moving and London based.

Probably the greatest descriptive writer of all time in my eyes, is Steinbeck. Grapes of Wrath takes a while to get going but once it does it's absolute quality.

Trying to read up on economics so have started flicking through the Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith. Have recently read some great books though, Town like Alice by Nevil Shute, Keef Richards' autobiography, complete epic history of Greece and Rome, Chavs by Owen Jones; all worth reading but for varying reasons.

Was gonna start a thread about this Nick. I gave it a go but found it pretty poor, even as an ardent Morrissey and Smiths fan. Written like a poet trying to write a novel, very flowery but lacks a bit of substance, similar to why I never really enjoyed Dorian Gray by Wilde. Also very poorly edited, loads of grammar issues and unnecessary passages, I gave up when the court case description neared its 100th page.
