Another couple of thoughts on this charge.
If the Tories had introduced it wouldn't Sad Dick be shouting about penalising poor people who can't afford new cars?
Anyone with parking provision at work may well decide to drive in rather than park at a station if they're being charged £12.50 anyway. How's that going to help?

Much as it’s a piss take most petrol cars after late 2006 and diesels after late 2016 should be exempt. Doesn’t mean it’s right though the stupid khant.

There’s an anti ULEZ expansion demo on Saturday January 28 at 12 noon Trafalgar Square.

Apparently Sutton council is refusing to co-operate and wont allow TFL to install cameras, hopefully other boroughs follow suit.

Sutton's argument which I think is a fair one is that they have very little public transport in the borough e.g. no tram no tube.

ULEZ is totally justified and hasn't gone far enough.

Drivers must pay the Ulez charge if their vehicle does not meet required Euro emissions standards for their model and make.

What is the problem with that.

Really the question to me is, why are polluting vehicles allowed on our roads, at all.

Have you considered that some people, who require a car for work, may not be able to afford anything other than “an old banger”? Especially, at the present time, when your friends from the Unions are bringing the railways to a near standstill

You certainly meet euro emission standards.

It's all those selfish minimum wage earners. Not only do they refuse to work from home or buy a new car but they insist on working before and after everyone else which extends the period in which the planet is being destroyed. They should be fined every day until they have a bit more consideration.

When public transport is not good enough what are they supposed to do.

Very good speech on ULEZ

Expanding ULEZ is a cash grab to fill Sadiq Khan's coffers.

But it's not a tax on wealthy drivers.

Over 50% of households in outer London earning as little as £10,000 own a car.

ULEZ is a tax on ordinary working people who can't afford a new car or Khan's daily £12.50 charge.

It will undoubtedly be extremely unpopular.

I prefer horse and carriage myself, environmentally friendly and good for the garden.
