Did I say....stuck thirty quid on Joyce by stoppage at 11/2....nearly 200 if it comes in.

Given it's what I think is going to happen I dived at the chance....here's hoping Daniel does as well.

Dubois did not win every round he was losing the fight easily

One judge had DD up by 8 rounds to 1 at time of stoppage.

It was a quality fight.

At the point the fight ended I had it even....I could see one round up either but I was surprised with how it was going.

Dubois impressed me more with the clean power shots and how often he was able to land them on Joyce who was clearly being cautious. Joyce had the better work rate and effective jab.

I knew Joyce's chin is up there with the very best in the division, if not the best so I wasn't surprised that he ate up those power shots....I think you really have to hit Joyce big right on the chin button to even buzz him and those exact shots are reasonably rare.

I usually back a great chin against great power....I just thought Joyce had the experience and the longer reach and I was unsure about Dubois's chin.

Still, I didn't expect Joyce to mainly jab him....he was clearly going for the points win, which would have blown my winnings....I was expecting a more aggressive Joyce, which is his usual approach.

Before the fight I was sure it wasn't going the distance so I lucked out in the end.....as without that eye nerve damage I don't think Dubois would have quit.

If that properly repairs, which it should, he can definitely come again and I seriously don't think most could have stood up to those shots last night.

Agree with the above, except I thought DD had won first six rounds and was therefore ahead (in-line with judges). No doubt that the tide was turning in Joyce’s favour though.

Joyce has amazing power and an amazing chin, he doesn’t though posses one punch power and can look fairly cumbersome at time.

Still, if you have great strength and an amazing chin then I guess you could make an argument against most.

Daniel will come again, he’s still probably five years away from his peak.

Yeah, I think he's a real talent and I hope he takes the defeat the right way. He's taking a lot of criticism about quitting but he's got a long career...this isn't life and death and shooting pains in his eye need seeing to....not three more rounds of being hit, sometimes hard.

It turns out that he'd broken his orbital bone and has nerve damage, so it was the right move to duck out really. Better that than increase the likelihood of reoccurred or permanent injury. Here's hoping that he recovers and does himself justice down the line!

Agreed, he listened to his body and hopefully he's saved his career because that's not a minor injury for a boxer.

Joyce now calling out Usyk.

Usyk holds a win over Joe from the amateurs way back in 2013.

If WBO strap is relinquished then I could see this happening, alternatively there are some good domestic fights out there such as H Fury, Chisora or even Price.

He can’t be fighting H.fury or Price at 35, they are a step down from Dubois. Worst way he needs to fight Chisora , or Whyte if possible, needs to nick a few quid before he’s over the hill.
Coronavirus has come bang at the wrong time for him.

I could see him being matched with Hunter, a small heavyweight who has good rankings.

Agree though, needs big fights quickly, however Fury and AJ are probably going to be busy fighting each other for next 12-18 months so that doesn’t leave much.

Be interesting to see if Wilder returns. That would be an interesting bout.

Agreed. He's accomplished a lot but is no spring chicken and so has to strike while the iron's hot. Father time doesn't f*** about!
