Am I right in thinking we had secured a 'right to buy' at an already agreed price when we got him on loan?

I can't remember but the price being bandied around was certainly more than what we he will now be worth. After the injury and lack of appearances - free seems about right, or perhaps an Ayew type fee.

I read the article as a standard response from a player who was sent out on loan and is now back at the club. He says he wants to stay and fight for his place but he knows that he will be moving on at some point.

That's precisely how I read it too. What on Earth is he supposed to say regarding his current employer as an alternative? "I can't stand being back here, and even though I appreciate all the medical treatment I'm receiving, I'll be looking to say 'adios' to Everton at the earliest opportunity" That would make him a popular fella!

I actually think Tosun is the type of forward we need. Solid, high work rate, direct, capable finisher. It was really sh-t luck that he broke down last year before he even had a chance to show his stuff for us. I had high hopes for him last year on loan.

The downside to him is his injury. I'm less worried that he doesn't really want to be here, because he's a professional, and he will perform for money.

I don't want to pay a fortune for him, but I really think he brings something up front that none of our other forwards can do.

Surely there isn’t any truth in this. We loaned Batshuayi for a bit of added quality up top and he’s not getting a look in...unless there’s a plan to terminate that loan and replace him with Tosun.

All seems a bit needless and surprising. I’d have thought there would be other areas of the squad to focus on.

It's not the issue though is it. We actually do have money, we've been in the Premier League for 8 years now. We just have a board who won't release funds/spend it.

He apparently,at cessation of his last loan spell, made it clear that he never intended to sign on a permanent deal, was Everton through and through and was using us for game time!!

Wasn't there also issues when we were trying to sign him when Everton did ? Not sure why we seem to be so keen on him if he is making all these statements about us.

Yep the little game ti.e he got here I thought he did well... He led the line on his own very well in our win at Man City..

What concerns me is that we have had 5/6 defenders or defensive midfielders on our bench repeatedly thos season due to our lack of attacking options. I would take him back until the end of the season to give us another option.
