By the inauguration, Trump will be 74, Biden 78, Sanders 79. Whoever wins, the vice-president must be thinking he (or she) will have a good chance at the top job - it will make that pick for the Democrats very interesting.

Hilary for VP? and then she is only a heart beat away.

Maybe it will be Clinton's chance.

I heard two senior Democratic Party representatives (sorry but I didn't catch the names) discussing Warren's withdrawal on Radio 4 this morning.

They suggested that Biden was now a shoe in and that he was certain to choose a woman to be his VP and paving the way for her to succeed him, maybe after 4 years.

Clinton was mentioned but not as a possible candidate. It is thought her legacy of failing to Trump in 2016 was toxic and one of the reasons a woman has not been chosen this time. Their priority is to get rid of Trump at all costs. The VP is likely to be one of the other candidates, with Kamala Harris seeming the favourite.

Interestly I have read that Trump might be considering dropping Pence from his ticket and replacing him with a woman. Nikki Hayley being the name most mentioned. So maybe he sees the danger and wants to cut it off. That would be typical Trump. Acting in his own self interest.

Neither the Dems, nor Biden, are doing it through self interest. Their overriding interest is to remove Trump because they believe he is unfit to lead the country and the world. They will choose whoever they believe is best able to do that. That's why the other candidates, including Bloomberg and his money, are now getting behind Biden.

Trump, on the other hand, would dump Pence and choose a woman only because it might help him get re-elected. If he thought Pence would be the better option then he would stay with him. Whether it might be in the longer term interests of the country to promote a woman won't enter his mind. It's all self interest. He, and his supporters, will justify it by saying that retaining Trump and stopping the "communists" is in the country's best interests etc etc but no-one with half a brain believes that guff. It's very obviously all about him with Trump.

He is fit to do what you say he isnt. You are displaying the same attitude as you do to TR,grooming gangs and the like.
Pence might not be the answer for trump but that lady may be, for the dems she may not be.

Can you not accept that or is it because of your anti attitude?

I'm enjoying watching the Democrats pick Biden....the hypocrisy of the Democrats knows no bounds....the Republicans are just the same of course but it's the Democrats who actually pretend they are moral....When the truth is that they are probably even dirtier....They couldn't have behaved worse during this presidency and if they win they won't have a leg to stand on criticising how the Republicans behave.

But sorry....I can't see them winning with the child sniffer.

I think their best chance was with Sanders but it looks like he's toast.

Regardless of what happens though, this is going to be fun.

You lost me with your first sentence.

Anyone who cannot see through Trump's fraudulence will end up in the wrong place.

I knew what you meant but as it makes no sense you lost me on what followed as a consequence.

Trump is not, never has been and never could be, fit to lead his country and the world.

If it wasn't quite so dangerous it would be hilarious that enough people thought otherwise for him to become POTUS.

Trump becoming President makes about much sense as us choosing "Robinson" or even Farage to be our PM.

Getting Johnson was a joke too far already.

A spoonful of sugar will make you less bitter I'm sure.
