Hopefully they will fall on the signature line of whatever dodgy government Covid contract happens to be on the table that day.

Sorry! Which ones are these; the ones that are put in place in nano seconds to try to save lives or the ones some people think are mates rates. A bit of the green eyed monster ones I reckon. Personally if I needed help I wouldn't care who got what contract from whom ! Strange how these food voucher/ free stuff contracts could be 'mates' as well but not much anylyzing of them.

Pimlico plumbers not hiring, and firing anybody who doesn’t have the vaccine Charlie Mullins is going to pay for once they’re available privately. Is he going to check customers as well? Welcome to big business and government. This will be about staff availability and job bookings as much as anything else.

Interesting for sure.
The original thought process was to protect the elderly and vulnerable and get on with life.
Which is what this man is saying.
Despite - me - having a youngish family member in icu with it currently, I sort of concur with him.
Anyone scared can make their own decisions and employers should still do their best as well.
His is not a populist view of course but if we are never going to be rid of it then let's crack on but with due care!

Lots of people want a 'cradle to grave' government and unfortunately we are living with a government determined to provide that.

People will increasingly expect government, which is the taxpayer, to solve all their problems. It's not a sensible or realistic cultural pathway.

The economic cost means that many more will die from the indirect causes of this emotive led madness.

With the latest figures as bad as they are half the reason we are so bad is the idiots who consistently flout the law and Boris and his mates never say that out loud.
Christmas would never have brought this many deaths on us if people had been sensible.
Whilst I accept that this more recent strain is very transmissable this is all about too many people doing what they want and then blaming everyone else for it.
I had a stand up yesterday in a Tesco Express with a youngish man not wearing a mask.
His answer was basically for me to f*** off and he didn't care and as before no one else helped me - they just looked the other way.

So.. it's widely common knowledge, via the daily mail, an article dated feb 2018 that shares this snippet of information.

Dec 2017 45k died of flu, January 2018 60k died of flu. Basically 100k+ died from the flu - so that means those with pre existing conditions, this that were elderly, those that were just unlucky.
That's more than a whole year of Covid.

Yes, covid is very real. Yes covid will kill people.

but if the government were that concerned, the nhs would have been invested in, not had cuts. Schools would provide vitamin d daily for kids.

McDonald's would be banned, so would cigarettes.

Where was the outrage, the lock down, the vaccines then? Where were the nightly claps for the workers and the local Karen down the supermarket screaming at Steve for not wearing a mask.

The nhs is swamped every winter. this is nothing new.... it's down to the media, publicizing it.

There are people that see it for what it really is and there are those that can't and won't.

This is the key here folks... do your best to stay healthy - vitamins, exercise, diet and attitude and protect those that need it and carry on as you were.

The more we do what the gov say, the longer they will do it for.

This was once a quality forum....

Do you have a link for this? I tried to find one but could only find that 64,000 people died in January 2018 and that "Public Health England estimates that across the 2017/18 flu season there were around 22,000 deaths associated with flu in England"

If the 45k/60k figures relate to the whole world then it needs to be compared with over 2 million deaths from Covid.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Yeah, looking at the whole picture (not just deaths, why does everyone focus on deaths) the data does not support your argument. As of Jan 7...
