A highly predictable and pathetic retreat by football authorities who have waited this long just to save face. Taking the knee was a token ill conceived bit of nonsense that bears no relation to the real world and was born from an equally ill conceived alliance with BLM, who themselves were a flawed organisation used by parties only interested in removing Donald Trump from power with the fallout contaminating our shores. The whole 'diversity' movement has become a parody of itself. Some left wing commentators and the self interested were even claiming that the Women's England football team didn't have enough Black people in it, when in fact the squad had roughly the same ratio as the wider population. Anybody seen the Palace team lately? There will be no complaints about the number of Whites from the Leftists I'm sure What quasi Marxist self serving garbage will those puppets serve up next?

At least our Wilf has gained himself and our club some positive press out of his decision to stop this pointless virtue signalling gesture. I've read quite a number of articles in the press which mention him because of his decision to 'stand tall' rather than kneel, not least of which is an item in The Times editorial today. Good on yer Wilf.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
