I am confident we will achieve at least 40 points and I would not bet against Leeds and Newcastle finishing below us..Its quite possible Leeds will finish in the bottom 5 .
I do fear Luca is past his sell by date and his passing is poor as was most of the teams yesterday, probably a consequence of tiredness and fear.

40 points won't be required this season, I'm presuming something like 36 pts for survival. I have no idea if that's low or not.
We tend to get at least a point a game so should be fine. I suppose the issue is if other teams such as Brighton or Newcastle go on a run or sign good players. I can't see us signing anyone. Optimistic me says 15th or just higher for us. However, I'm thinking 16th,17th is also possible.

Watching Newcastle tonight they do look awful. We’d definitely have to outdo them for negative, boring football to be well and truly in trouble. That said, we are giving it a go and of course did lose to them! They’ve a tough run of fixtures bar us and potentially Leeds in the next 8 or so games.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Newcastle looked poor last night and Sheffield United consistently struggle but there's only one team that looks so out of their depth when their talisman isn't playing.

true about us but I would throw Wolves into the mix here.

Newcastle were calm and organised against us and caught us out late in the match.

Against Arsenal they tried to be positive and mix it and got caught out by Aubameyang & co.

Do Newcastle have the forward power I don't think so, with us we occasionally do.

I don't think RH will persevere with it now 3 games without scoring.

It's difficult to believe that there are 3 worse teams than us, but there are, the league table says so.
That said, we ought to crack on and get a few points in the next set of games, 2 wins in 12 is poor form, chuck in a few hammerings for good measure and it debatable whether we can improve on last season's 14th place finish. In fact our fixtures for March, April and May look decidedly tricky given current form, and if we have a spell like the end of last season then relegation becomes a possibility.

Maybe my memory is playing games, but it states W.Ham team with most points relegated on 42.
Was there not 1 season where 4 went down instead of 3?
the 4th berth being filled by us on 43 points?
does this ring a bell Willo?

We were one of the 4 clubs relegated in a season not long after the inception of the PL.We were relegated on 45 pts in a season when each team played 42 games.

W.Ham did go down on 42 pts in a 38 game season.
