Rusty defensively with poor positioning. Attacking play was there with a bit of dynamism.

This was PVA's first start since July but defensively he has never been the best and is far better attacking than defending which appears to be the trait of the modern full-back.

"Intent" does not enter the equation in such incidents.

According to the commentators it should have. Not sure his studs were up until he hit the ball. Atkinson was poor again, both decisions in first half correct but challenge on Wilf 2nd half was a penalty all day long, didn’t bother with the monitor for that! Jimenez should have been booked for 2 identical fouls and the Wolves player who went through back of Clyne. Look at the stats I posted, no consistency.
Atkinson seems to have not forgiven Wilf for the Emirates incident where he couldn’t book him quick enough for diving and had to overturn it. Although I do believe Wilf deserved booking, probably frustrated with penalty decision but no excuse.
I would like to see Atkinsons record when reffing Palace. End of the day Wolves deserves to win, good team.

I'm afraid some commentators are not fully 'Au Fait' with the Laws of the game.

Our midfield offered zilch protection to the back four, criminally turning off for most of the first half... aid and abetted by rusty full backs. Instructing Jairo to play infront of the back four made some difference. A couple of long range 'on the six pence' passes to Wilf makes me wonder if thats his best position.

Our passing going forward has improved but still looked sluggish. To beat teams of Wolves ilk, and better, we need quick one touch football. The kind that lead to Batsman's nearly goal.

Yes we were unfortunate not to be awarded a blatant penalty and in today's football Milivojević's tackle was an equally blatant red card. He's been out of sorts for a while now. I do hope McArthur comes back soon.

All in all nothing to get downhearted about loosing to a top 8 team.

Afterall its all about survival, init?
(said through gritted teeth)

It really surprises me to see som many people excuse our humiliating defeat by how good Wolves are.

If so, why is it they only - and with difficulty - scored one goal against Newcastle, Leeds and Fulham?

The obvious reason is the Roys pathetic tactics gave them a motorway down each flank - what any team attacking with flair enjoys and exploits.

Roy is ready for retirement.

This is a fair point.
They only defeated a struggling Fulham team 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Newcastle both at home.

Apropos the "Pathetic tactics", after every defeat perhaps supporters ponder as to whether another manager with the same squad might deploy a different system and produce better results.
In the final analysis, Hodgson's objective is secure PL survival and he has delivered for 3 seasons on a relative shoestring.

Did you see Newcastle or Fulham games? Wolves should have battered them both by a handful of goals. They scored 2 against us not 42.

Battered them?

They had 9 shots against Fulham, 10 against Leeds and 15 against us - even if they scored early on and slowed down.

Who do you think was mostly battered?

And yes, I saw both games on TV.

I did not hear what they said, however "Intent" does not enter the equation.
Perhaps they are fully 'Au Fait with this but were advocating that "Intent" SHOULD be added to the Law.

I am not going to argue but Hoddle thought it was no more than a yellow as he quite rightly said, Luka was sent off for the follow through and there was nothing he could do to get his foot out of the way. Tough, sliding tackles are being eradicated from the game albeit with the assistance of inconsistency from referees
