Max is a player that has had time and opportunity. to impress. His basic game is neat and technically good, as you would expect of someone schooled in top German football.
But he just does not possess the physicality to progress with us.
Hodgson, and Palace like players with real flare, if not why keep Wilf, at all cost, and bring in Eze,? But they have to earn their corn. I don’t think Max has managed that.

Totally disagree... Even Roy himself has admitted in the interview that Meyer has not been given the opportunities to show what he can do... Simple fact is he's just not a Roy type of central midfielder... He can pass to a decent standard for a start.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Yeah and who talented at CP, gets games under Roy??

remember Roy never choose Zaha to play for England so chose Ivory Coast!!

Roy did have Zaha in the squad, I think you will find it was Southgate when he took over told Zaha he didn’t have a chance ..

Zaha gets too involved with the players trying to stop him, always has and always will ..that's why he wasn't chosen.

Wasn't it that Southgate took too long to make contact - so zaha decided to go elsewhere?

It was indeed, but for some it sounds better if it’s Roy’s fault. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Meyer is purchased yet has not convinced Mr Hodgson that he is worthy of a regular starting place.
Batshuayi is signed yet is down the 'Pecking order' with Ayew preferred to him the other day when Benteke departed.
Eze was signed and soon found himself on the bench.

Given the above, some supporters might conclude that Mr Hodgson has little influence on who joins and decisions are taken by the club.
Alternatively some might conclude that Mr Hodgson actually wanted these players, that the squad is much stronger for their signing and gives him options.

I'm sure Roy has final say on every transfer, some just don't work out.

Meyer is a strange one though as it was clear even on his sub debut v Watford that he wouldn't fit in and lacked the physicality to prosper in the Prem (within our team that has c30% of the ball in many games). He has been given a number of opportunities and has always failed to grasp them. Whilst a decent passer he is quite slow and can't tackle. Doesn't have a great engine either.

I suspect Palace bought him based on reputation and videos which you should never do.

Bats has just been disappointing, although we did know what we were getting so Roy must take some blame.

I think both Bats and Eze were partly bought in case Zaha left - Bats would get more game time if Zaha wasn't playing upfront.

Eze is still young and is a work in progress. He was invisible in both the Liverpool and Villa defeats.
Just before his wonder goal last week he switched off and allowed the right back to get a decent shot away.
I think he has featured in every game this season, when fit.

Irrespective of your views willo I am happy to see you are old school and give the manager the respect of Mr Hodgson as opposed to Roy .

I have a great deal of respect for Mr Hodgson who cuts a figure of dignified propriety.

As a matter of interest why does the manager deserve respect by referring to him formally but the players don't?

This is arguable. It's not a question of `if`he can pass but more to the point where he passes to. He very much tends to play sideways passes. Great for a team who want to ply a possession based brand of football. We certainly do not play that style. If Max played more through balls, attempts and more passes designed to unlock a defence or make a break through then it may be a different story. Either he has been told not to play these types of passes, is not used or able to play these sort of passes or if he just no longer has the confidence to make them. I suspect its the middle option. I do not recall seeing him play such balls before he came to us.
