Sounds like a loan deal till the end of the season. That doesn't mean we won't give him an extension when the loan is over. Hope that's NOT the case but I suspect the club will want to see if Mateta is going to be our future before burning our boats.

If your boat has got no engine or sails it ain’t worth a dime. Why keep it? Especially with such high mooring fees

Please Parish, Freedman and co - cut all losses and let go. Never to come back playing for the Eagles!

I think he will leave today. He apparently had said he wants to stay but the signing of Mateta might well have changed his mind. If he stands any chance of retaining his place in the Belgium squad and making the next world cup, which would be his last real opportunity, he needs to be playing. Sam wants him and he would definitely play at West Brom where a fresh start could benefit him.

If he stays then whilst he will get some game time it's much more likely to be off the bench. I actually think his form this season has improved a lot, even if his goal return hasn't so much. He has been more involved, his wall passes very useful as indeed is his defensive heading ability.

The shape looked good on Saturday and that may well be enough for us to decide that now is the right moment.
