I think the new position for Wilf has been bought about because of our lack of someone to play as a lone striker.Benteke is a lump up front his all round play is poor and he fails to find space particularly by using the wings to drag defends away to allow for Wilf and Eze through that middle area.
Hope this makes sense to some of you.

Yes, it certainly does, well said!

Always amazed how many people dont understand football.
A player in a position needs help from other players to perform.
A keeper needs defenders to keep down the shots coming in.
A centre or full back needs help from like wise defenders and the keeper.
The midfield need help from forwards and defenders.

So what does a Forward need?
Some think nothing, like the supply has constantly been lacking to Benteke and yet he supposed to do it by himself LOL..

He has had decent service over the years maybe not enough ,but he has wasted too many good opportunities for a centre forward and the statistics don't lie .Murray got similar service and look at his return in goals.Plus Murray put a decent shift in when he played unlike Benteke who goes missing.

Do me a favour..He’s an experienced premier league and international player whose all round game bar winning headers is non existent. You need to raise your expectations imo. And so do palace.

Nonsense. There are many examples of one on ones with keeper whereby he shoots straight at the keeper, headers over the bar, scuffed shots that are more of a danger to the corner flag than the net, etc. The supply is there, he can't convert, hence his appalling record.

Exactly. To say he hasn’t had chances is nonsense. He’s shot in front of goal. That effort against Arsenal on his left foot leaning so far back he was almost horizontal was an example of someone whose confidence and ability as long since left him. Yes we are bloody awful to watch but if we had a quality centre forward we would look so much different. We’ve not had one for years.

Return to form ??? Do you mean Roy playing him trying to drum up interest in offloading him, or blagging the fans he deserves another 3 years of bleeding the club dry ..

Spot on Kev - couldn’t agree more.

CB has been better recently - no doubt. But frankly that wasn’t too difficult was it - he has been absolutely garbage for the previous 18 months! Got to get them all off the books as soon as possible and bring replacements in who will bring something different.

I’d add Hennessey and Dann to that list too. Hennessey is not required now JB is in and Dann (a brilliant servant to the club) is 3 yards too slow now days.

Sorry if you thought I know nothing about football!
I have played and managed to a decent level and have experienced situations like this.
Benteke tends to be a 1 trick pony , I am fed up of experts saying we do not play to his strengths. No we need a versatile front man who can adapt , sorry but Benteke is NOT that player

In the ideal world yes. However as I've said elsewhere with Batshuayi warming the bench are we really going to fork out £20m for him? If not and we get rid of Wickham (a no brainer) can we afford to get rid of Tekkers as well? I doubt it because I don't see the board forking out the money needed to replace two strikers. I expect Benteke will get another year especially if he continues his recent contributions.

Agreed but I doubt the board would bankroll such a purchase. IMO whether we like it or not, Benteke will get a 1 year extension (if he wants it), especially if Wickham goes (a no brainer) and we decide not to take up the Batshuayi option.
