It’s fairly simple, league position is generally determined by the financial budget of the club.
A manager can make a small difference, but not as much as money can.

Sad but true. You can see the gap between Wolves and above and look at most of the teams where they are and this is borne out by that

Must be tough being the owner of a football club - if you looked at each of the clubs in the bottom half of the league & tried to estimate how much money would be needed to spend to -
Keep them in the league ?
improve their position by 2 places ?
Improve their position by 4 places ?
Etc.
If you look at say Everton & Brighton, both have spent a lot of money in recent years (comparatively speaking) but when you look at the table they are more or less in about the same league position as they were before - I am sure there are many similar examples

I guess there is an element of spending enough to make sure you don’t have a season where you go down. Suspect next season will prove whether we have or not.

I'm slightly disappointed to discover this is not a debate about the relatives merits of the thinking of John Maynard Keynes and John Paul Sartre!

I guess Keynes would advocate investment in infrastructure so that economic progress could be made. Sarte would have us believe that if we thought hard enough that we could do well, we could make that our version of reality. I would certainly think that we need investment. I would also question the team's motivation on occasions. Do they truly believe? Or have false beliefs due to the constructs of their own version of reality?
I'm no expert on either of these by the way and could be entirely wrong.
However, I could ask is anyone or anything actually right, if I were to get all philosophical? I suspect no one's too bothered about my questions anyhow.

Essentially in existentialism people are free agents who have control over their choices and actions, and are therefore responsible for them.

In our society, especially at present, the state and its agencies restrict the individuals life or actions.

Existentialists believe this is harmful destroying the development of an individual's potential and society in general.

I think...

The most obvious existentialist I can think of would be PVA, as his defending demonstrates......

And in a Sartre tie-in he sometimes induces nausea.
