You're conflating the eating of meat (which I do) with stating that you don't care how animals are treated as long as you get to eat them - there's a huge gap between the two points.

I manage to eat meat and no one reminds me day in, day out of anything to do with it, nor do I receive a barrage of anything from 'grass-eating snowflakes' - I'd suggest those are perceived consequences, rather than reality, in my opinion of course.

An indifference to pain and cruelty towards animals (where it can be avoided - as it can even if this industry) is little different from the same attitude towards children. In both instances they rely on us.

These videos which are from the US are not proven, as the article says, insinuations.

That being said, better quality feed produces better tasting meat.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I wonder if anyone posting here has ever actually fed a pig, as I have? A once had a couple of small pot-bellied pigs as pets and have spent time in Asia where keeping a few pigs is common place. They are much more intelligent than you might imagine, but are also strongly motivated by a desire to eat. Much like my dog, they will eat many things they cannot digest, but these get passed through.

They will root through waste and extract nutrition from it. Nutrition that is then recycled to us. Not sending nutrition to landfill makes sense to me in a needy world.

That is not to say we should not ensure they lead a good and happy life. A life they wouldn't have at all unless we eat them. The relationship between people and their pigs I have seen in Asia was one of care and respect, but without undue sentiment. The animals are treated kindly, not abused or put into over restricted spaces, washed to keep cool and fed well. When killed the children can, and do, watch, so they become accustomed to what their purpose is.

Not caring about how we treat the animals that serve us is, in my opinion, inhuman. As being inhuman will show itself in ways unrelated to the care we show to animals, it's a trait which is rightly being condemned.
