Sadly they are all the same or worse than the agreements that we had pre-Brexit. Of the 70 countries where our trade relationship was through the EU, most (66) have just been rolled over and are exactly the same as before.

In a few cases we have managed to negotiate a worse trade deal. A good example is the one Truss negotiated with Japan. To be fair it was always going to be worse because the trade deal that the EU has with Japan says that if they offer better terms to any other country of trading block then similar conditions must be offered to them. Japan therefore made sure that the deal was inferior. They threw in an offer on cheese, something Truss is keen on, as a distraction. The Japanese eat very little cheese and it's unlikely to become more popular. It incoprehensalbe to understand why she is considered a success.

As all firemen will tell you, never trust a truss.
When it fails it fails totally and usually without warning.

Ah, there lies the fly in the ointment, I was going to give her the benefit of doubt, but I guess her "shining"- by staying on the same step or below, just shows how bad they are!

So you are an expert on trade deals you haven't seen.

That's helpful

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

The trade deals are all published on Government websites. Although I have not read them all I have seen them.

The reason that most have been negotiated so quickly is that there was no negotiation. They are roll-over agreements where the exact same conditions apply as those that were in place during our membership of the EU. They are no better or no worse, just the same.

In the specific case of the trade agreement with Japan, it is available to read online. Here: [Link]

As I said in my earlier post the only changes are that it offers less in the area of physical trade but there are some additional areas such as e-commerce and financial services. One of the main problems with the new deal is that the UK wanted quotas for agricultural goods at lower tariffs than those given to the EU. This was not possible as the EU trade agreement prevents it. The UK is therefore only able to use up what remains from the EU’s quota. Obviously, this puts UK exporters at a disadvantage. Not unsurprisingly Liz Truss did not make a big announcement on this. Oh, and there is the opportunity to export UK cheese. If you have any knowledge about Japan you will know that this not going to save the UK dairy industry.
