I think the metric versus imperial argument has long gone I even weigh myself in kilos (still a fat b******).

I expect the youngsters are all metric so Boris is appealing to our age group bit of Tory nostalgia.

I know mate. I just like ribbing them.

Have to say that on a hot day I prefer small bottles straight from the fridge in a glass from the freezer.

Pints of bitter preferred in the winter. Or a brown and mild....what happened to that drink?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Get yourself down Helens bar in Kilmackillogue county Kerry ASCP, pint of the black stuff 3.90 euro. Bit far from Galway for last orders, but it might start a trend!

Not enough people alive who drink it perhaps?

Most likely. I remember a couple of lads in our group used to drink it. Thought it was hip or something. Foul taste. Now, light and bitter on the other hand.......

There was an ad campaign in the 80s to make Mild popular among young people, it wasn’t strong and was relatively cheaper. Paradoxically two things which young people in the 80s didn’t want.
Light & Bitter was a good drink if the barman was on the firm when you’d get nearly a full pint with your light ale. The unfortunately named Black and Tan was another option.

Ha, I bet even the hipsters gave it a wide berth when "g an t" became fashionable.

It's actually not a bad idea.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Too true CP. it was an inadvisable choice in Kilburn and Hackney particularly.
