Cressida Dick is appointed by the Home Secretary and has her support.

The Home Secretary has, very unwisely imo and many others, recently extended her term until 2024.

That's about it, entrusting her, maybe she can deliver but she has been there too long, it is not supposed to be for life.

A new appointment is like a new CPFC manager, with a new outlook and purpose.

The most damning comment came from my ex-neighbour a retired senior copper who said "she was an uncontentious appointment"

Things seem to have got worse with the Daniel Morgan case, and other issues that were meant to be sorted under her tenure.

I'd forgotten the Daniel Morgan case, perhaps she has some culpability in that as his family...thinking back, certainly regarded her as unhelpful.

Also her handling of BLM and marching in step with Khan's failed approach to crime certainly deserves her the sack.

However, I also thinks she carries the can for stuff that really in truth aren't her fault....the Everard case being a black swan event that would have happened regardless of who is at the top.

I don't know what can realistically be done about that other than looking at recruitment....and are the 'right stuff' even coming forward in enough numbers for that job? And this guy would have probably slipped through anyway.

I was on a building site, reading a book about the masons-(The brotherhood) on my tea break in the portocabin, my chargehand, (someone on 10p an hour more than the normal blokes), said-"why are you reading that rubbish?" My instinctive reaction was thinking why do you care? I had just finished a page, saying, "Freemasons often use the letter A, as a signal to other freemasons that they are "on the square", as they put it, or "in the hood", as I like to say. Anyway, I looked ae my "superior", and saw on his hard hat, he had a big letter A in the middle!I said to the whole cabin, look, it says they use the A, and Ken , who just told me my book is bollox, has it in the middle of his hat! The poor bloke melted and crawled out of the hut!Bunch of cnuts,,,,,,,,,

You must realise that the public sector rewards failure and constantly celebrates it. Learning from our mistakes is one of their many classics. She is role model for failure mentality. Female and gay in a male dominates (and necessitated in many situations) sector, the perfect choice. Catastrophe after catastrophe before and during her reign which has given them so much to consider and learn from. Following usual public sector protocol, when she is finally removed it will be through promotion celebrating her time there as opposed to what is long overdue, the sack. Of course lessons a rarely learnt and confusion and failure will follow especially if that disaster Khan is still involved. How depressing. But let’s celebrate the inclusiveness of the police force and all those 5’ females who have joined up to enforce law and order. So suitable. Line of Duty is a good reflection of the modern police. It is so overdue a major overhaul but don’t hold your breath. Lessons will not be learnt and our paperwork led Police FORCE will continue as jelly. All weak and wobbly.

You are dead right there!
This woman really was and still is a bad choice and has been involved - even prior to being commissioner - in too much bad stuff and she should never have been appointed in the first place.
From the scandal, post Saville, along with many other high profile cock ups she comes up smelling of roses every time and she is also one of the most insincere individuals I have ever seen in public office.
Priti Patel should be gone as well for giving her an extension to her contract - it is a disgrace.
We can't hold her responsible for every individual cock up of course or whatsapp groups and so on - but she just stinks of everything that is wrong in the public sector today and the smell just gets worse.
Rant over!

With regard to the first sentence, may I stress it is correct but only in the Senior Grades. The Public Sector is not well run but the lower grades, who can see this and have to implement some ridiculous decisions, unfortunately, do not have a voice. Please do not lump all Public Sector workers together

Suspect it’s the same in most organisations Spider. One of the problems I had at work was people coming coming into senior positions who only intended staying until a better opportunity came along - they almost all wanted to change things, seemingly to get a point for their CVs. The changes implemented usually meant going back to the way things were done a few years previously which staff pointed out hadn’t worked. The person responsible would leave and the new Director/ HoD would pretend the working practices were our choice and set about changing them back to another unsuccessful earlier method. There were also endless change management consultants around who were only interested in how things could, rather than did, work; usually after a few redundancies.
