I have to say, Luka was simply hopeless today. There was nothing he could do right. Yet somehow he's on set pieces? Is he really all we have in those situations? Please PV give it to anyone else.
Kouyate tries hard but has zero ball skills. He makes an effort though which I respect.
Forget Europe yet, we have made great progress but today showed the alarming gaps we still have in this team.
Just met some Danish fans in the Cherry Tree- I feel for them, they came over to see Joachim! Maybe next time!

I find it infuriating and every time he takes one the commentators say "Milovojevic stands over the ball and we all know what a danger he is from set pieces".

No, he's really not, he's good at penalties but not free kicks. He's actually scored six free kicks in an 11 year career, just one more than James Ward-Prowse scored last season. Absolutely no idea why Gallagher isn't on them.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I believe in admitting when I’m wrong and owning the mistake. Today I need to make an admission about Luka.

He’s not good enough for this current palace team.

I’ve supported him passionately. You all know that. And I stilll believe he’s got quality. We’ve all seen it. But for whatever reason, it’s a distant memory.

I can’t defend him anymore. And apologies for trying to for so long.

He shouldn’t see much more game time for us now. Needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Cheers

The only Cheers from me will be in the pub later forgetting this afternoon

Kouyate adds sod all to this side. Luka I can see the point of, he does a screening job.

Kouyates crap in the air & crap on the ball. His first touch is further than I can kick it in most cases.

I've been saying it since long time, he really is pony! Pairing him with the equally dreadful Luka and we've handed an advantage to the opposition from the off.

Appreciate your honesty sprites. Something Villa need to learn before they trash the sport.

‘Swindy’ makes a lot of great points. I’m sure that Gerrard’s pre-match talk to his team encouraged them to surround and intimidate a new ref, who was generally poor and inconsistent. You have to say however that in that respect Palace we’re naive- Luka played poorly, but captained even worse, remonstrating with his own side and failing to question the ref about his decision making.
It is very sad to see a player fall away from their excellent standard of three years ago… how we missed Jimmy Mac today!

did anyone else notice that that the score board it said that it was not a deliberate foul and not a red card by number 6 Guehi . Do these people at VAR headquarters know what they are looking at or what for .
Poor game today .

His second touch is usually a tackle!! At least he won a couple of those. Don’t think Luka won a tackle the whole time he was on.

We are not moving the ball forward fast enough to attack the opposition. When Quaita had the ball he rolled out to one of his back four only repeatedly passing the ball sideways and backwards between them allowing Villa's defence to regroup and slowing us down moving forward. Why was Quiata so reluctant to kick the ball upfield to allow our midfield and forwards to chase and attack.

Vieira said in his post match interview that we made it easy for them playing in front of them and not playing quickly enough nor attempting runs in behind their defence. There was a slight improvement in the second half but we didn’t really create much.
Mcarthur is a big miss in terms of how the team functions being the glue which joins up much of our play.
I’m not sure Luka warrants a place in terms of his contribution (over a long period) and while Kouyate has a number of attributes he does lack creativity.
I couldn’t understand why Olise was so reluctant to take on his man or play an early cross instead of continually playing the ball back to Ward.
At the moment he may have more impact as an impact sub even though he is clearly talented.
My hope is that this was a bit of a one off as there were lots of poor performances from our players.

Yup so why did he play Kouyate and Luka neither are the most mobile. Hopefully he learned that today, if we are to play a pressing game they should not be paired together.

One more point

Agree about Luka as captain. When Zaha was having the spat in 1st half, Mings was there as captain, Luka was standing near centre circle with hands on his hips.
Awful performance today, awful ref, awful opponents, why was Watkins not booked for diving? Martinez when feigning “ injury” threw the ball out, why was play not restarted with a throw in rather than in goalkeepers hands? Have I missed a rule change?
Villa play acting an embarrassment but maybe we should do the same
