I don't know what my first game was - mid sixties or thereabouts with my Dad and Grandad.
I never remember thinking about any other team because i was brought up hearing about Palace all of the time.
I absolutely love supporting CPFC and intend to have "Glad All Over" played on the way in at my funeral!

My first game was against Barnsley 29th September 1963, starting with the roller coaster firmly at the bottom and a 2-1 defeat. From there it could only go up....and down

Does anybody remember the game when a big fog came down during the match (late 50s it must have been) and the ref called the game off. I was on the Holmesdale end bank and could hardly see beyond the penalty area. Also sound was muffled by the fog so couldn't hear the crowd beyond our end. So we didn't know the ref had called the players off the pitch. Neither did the goalie at our end. It was only after a number count in the changing rooms did they realise the goalie was missing and sent out a search party and it was only then that the crowd around me also realised .
I well remember all the old geezers around me as we made our way, disappointed, out of the ground complaining at how 'soft' the game was becoming, 'Would never have happened in the good old days.'

Palace v Colchester Feb 1964 was my first match, so 2 years until I have 60 years of following the Glaziers/Eagles.

The game finished 0-0 and was probably pretty dire, but we were promoted to Division 2 at the end of the season so all was well and I was hooked.

My first game is enshrined (?) in my signature block, below.

My second game, after having been hooked by the first, was 2-1 at home to Newcastle, who had Malcolm McDonald up front and who wore white socks with black hoops, which seemed a bit 'odd' even for the 70s.

Bobby Kellard executed a penalty almost as badly as Wilf did last week, but it somehow rolled into the goal with the 'keeper having dived the other way.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I have followed Palace since 1973 when Malcolm Allison became manager. However due to circumstances I only ever got to see Palace play at Carrow Road until I finally got too Selhurst.
This was 8th April 2000. I had to get to a home game before the club potentially folded. We played Stockport County. What a game it was - managed to sit in the wrong seat, and then watched us go 3 nil up by the middle of the first half. However I remember thinking that I have never seen a team so nervous when being that far in front. sure enough they fluked a goal and the players nerves seemed to really set in. It got to 3 - 3 and if anyone was going to win it they were, but we hung on.

Same thing happened to Willo. Of course, he suffered brain damage as a result while it appears you emerged unscathed :-)

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Charming !
I readily admit that at my advanced age I have a brain not known for it's acceleration, accordingly I do not possess intellectual acuity.

My Dad took me when i was 4 (1969) i have never forgiven him , first sitting on the wall in the Whitehorse, then the Holmesdale, then the Arthur wait enclosure, then the Stanley Stephenson in the old stand.
