At the time he seemed so shiny and out of our league though. I remember us being astonished when he wanted 20k a week.

Although not a centre of the pitch midfielder and more a supporting man/number 10 in both senses, Maradona is easily the best ever. (After the ‘82 world cup) he was able to deal with all the rough abuse, something many now couldn’t. And he’d be able to trim down today without the need to deal with sliding tackles and barges from all angles players don’t get very much (by the same player) today. What he did with with Argentina and Napoli is highly impressive
