Must be f+××ed.

The net outlays and high wages just cannot be sustained.

I said this about a week ago, just thinking about the financial aspect of Kouyate's time with us.

I know we acquired some nice players, but one bad/unlucky season and the club is in a world of financial trouble.

We will need to sell some significant silver very soon.

That is part of the process so expected to anyone not deluding themselves we’re Newcastle pre the murderous regime.

If you set up a transfer strategy that requires you to buy to sell then that is what’s going to happen, and must do at a club our size or we’ll end up stuffed like you say.

If we keep to this strategy with a decent manager I wouldn’t worry. It’s when you don’t spread your money on several prospects and spend fortunes on very few or one player you’re asking for trouble.

Totally agree Rudi but the path we have taken I feel we MUST be successful. We are one bad season from seriously bleak times.

I'm making the following assumptions.

10m transfer in
50k a week
Nothing incoming upon contract expiry

That basically is 5m a year net leaving our coffers.

Fully accept I could be wrong but those seem like a consensus view to me. And more importantly they are probably ballpark for this type of player.

Did the opening of the new Academy pass you by? Parish made it clear that developing home grown talent was the way forward, this takes time to develop.

Your making statements on the club’s financial position with no real knowledge, I would let the very wealthy people who have invested in Palace, deal with that. They didn’t become wealthy, without a bit of financial acumen.

What makes you such an expert on our clubs finances? Are you our accountant??

If you read our accounts, our wages are £13 million a year less, we are in a very good place, and one bad year is possible, but our assets more than compensate, no doubt the contracts have clauses for wage cuts if the worst were to happen

You are right Painter. They are wealthy and I am not. Not do I know the finer details of the club's finances.

But I saw the last available accounts (as did anyoke who cared to look) and I also believe
we spent a f***ton last summer and are going for it again now. And I feel confident Kouyate has cost us anywhere between £4m to £5m a year (so 1/20th or 1/25th of our realistic annual outlay on players) based on wages amd amortised fee. And I also feel confident that he was probably relatively inexpensive relative to what he gave us (vs. say Benteke, Sakho, Wickham, Meyer and some others).

And I know we have a 25 man (ish) squad. And an academy to fund.

I guess what I really think is that we have to be ready for the possibility/fact that we are now trying a totally new business model amd will definitely (I believe) be doing some major selling in the not-too-distant future.

Amd this is a risky period.

No but like anyone else, I can read an income statement for the 24 months through June 30, 2021. And then consider the huge net outlay on players last summer

..but you fail to consider: the nearly bugger all outlay on players for the past few Seasons ++ the huge reduction in Wages we would have saved letting the likes of Andros, PVA, Cahill, Dann, McCarthy, Wayne, Wickham leave.

I see wages and salaries of 127m, down by 5.5m y/y on page 21.
