I heard someone has ordered a Hawaiian Pizza from Uber Eats at the training ground. The only person who liked pineapple on pizza was Gallagher!

Disgraceful! Fake news it has to be . Everyone knows pineapple does not belong on a pizza . Parrish if you are reading this Don't but Gallagher. this kind of talk is too disruptive and would divide the dressing room

I wonder if Ayew will be offered an extension. I've always liked him and more than many others have appreciated what he's contributed, but I think he's played a useful part in what we've been until now, rather than what Vieira wants the team to become, so I suspect the end of this season and the squad transition that will come with it may mark the end of his usefulness to us. I wouldn't be surprised if he was allowed to go, with thanks.

Vieira was asked about Gallagher and Palace yesterday and said ‘both parties have moved on ‘ and ‘nothing was going to happen’ in relation to a move.
Puts it to bed for now I suppose…..roll on the summer when the story re-emerges!

With regard to Ayew Ibelieve he’s already agreed a one year extension.

Also in a club like Palace a lot of the contract extension discussions take place towards the end of the season to be confident of what division we are playing in (we know what we can afford to pay) & what kind of injury record has the player had during the season (is the player healthy)

I'm sure there were a couple of mid-season transfer extensions in the Hodgson era - but can't remember names, I'm afraid.

Currently, though, we are going through a transitioning phase in which we are off-loading players who are getting past/have gone past their sell-by date.

I suspect the club have been in talks with Zaha prior to this season but the fact is - he wants a big club so he can get the chance to play in Europe and win things before he retires. He'll only accept the deal on the table if he doesn't get a suitable offer from such a club.

As for Eze, is he important enough for us to offer him a contract now? He's been very hit and miss this season and, of course, last season he was injured. Had he hit the ground running and shown consistent form this season - then, yes, I would have hoped we'd be negotiating a new contract with him now (for all we know we may already be doing so). However, he needs to up his game IMHO.

Our other newer arrivals are on contracts expiring in 20026 or 2027 so no need yet to be offering extensions.

As for players whose contracts expire this summer, they are basically players who have hit the age of 30 and are unlikely to get more than a one year extension if the club want to keep them. It will be interesting to see if any of them get offers before the end of the season.

I doubt we have the resources to replace all those whose contracts are up in the summer and whilst you may be correct re Ayew not being the (ideal) type of player Vieira wants for the future, he may well be a useful bench option for us.

According to my (to some extent guesswork) records the following contracts expire this summer:

Butland and Matthews (neither will be renewed IMO nor replaced as Whitworth and Goodman in the U21s are very well thought of)

Ward
Ferguson
Tomkins
Clyne

McArthur
Milivojevic
Zaha
Schlupp (if not already extended)
Ayew

Of those nine, I see the following being released:
Ward OR Clyne
Tomkins
Ferguson (if he has another relapse which seems highly likely given the last two and a half years)
McArthur
Milivojevic

Schlupp and Ayew to be retained

Zaha remains the $64,000 question.

I can see us needing to replace up to 6 senior players and we don't have a full senior squad as it is.

So which of the youngsters might come into the reckoning?

I struggle to see beyond Phillips in midfield and possibly Ebiowei if he performs at Hull.

I think Ozoh is a great prospect but his development will be better served by going on loan to a League 1 club next season.

Of the others out on loan at EFL clubs, IMHO:
Street isn't good enough
Rak-Sakyi isn't ready for the PL
Banks is lightweight
Gordon could surprise us given his start at Carlisle

As for Umeh and Reid - no idea.

Started for Chelsea last night and played ok. But his antics, especially his diving are just abysmal at times. He threw himself to the ground to try and win a penalty when we beat WBA 5-1 the other season and did it enough times too when he played for us last season and riled our players by doing it again the other week.

I think he needs to cut this out soon as it won’t be long before he gets a reputation for it.

It would appear (can't remember where I read it, but one of the papers yesterday) that Chelsea want to give Conor a new, improved contract. I hope this is true because this story, and our interest in him, needs to be put to bed for once and for all. If nothing else is clear, it's that Conor has been a significant distraction throughout the last two transfer windows and our obsessive pursuit of him has probably hindered our progress as we have shelved improvements that needed to be made in case he became available.

The problem is that a player like Gallagher is ver y good for our system, provides energy and dynamism in aging midfield. Hopefully Ahamada and Lokonga can begin to find solutions this season, and in the summer window we will have to find other younger players who will do this for Palace. There might even be some on our books already ...by by Gallagher, ''twas but a dream ..

Congratulations on a very good post . Hopefully by the summer Ahamada will have established himself as a good player, but Lokonga even if he does well this season will be off back to Arsenal. So we might need two new young fullbacks , a dynamic goalscoring winger to replace Wilf, and a couple of young PL ready strikers. It's going to a busy transfer window with five or six outgoings and incomings ...
