I don't know if he'll score on his debut, against us, etc. but I agree with you that it's a bad miss. He's clearly talented, the price was reasonable (for these days), and he's exactly the sort of player who's tended to do well both at Palace and under Vieira's coaching. I had him down as one of our prime targets given our apparently sustained interest so it may speak volumes that we didn't get involved when it came down to the wire. That would suggest either a). we have no money to spend in the window at all, or b). we are seriously pursuing and close to landing another target with the money we do have.

I expect us to struggle when it comes to bringing in the Gallaghers and the Loftus Cheek's but I do expect us to be competitive when it comes to this sort of signing.

Either way, I think Bournemouth has done well here. Semenyo's capable of scoring the goals to help them avoid relegation and if they do go down, he's more than capable of scoring the goals to keep them in the Championship promotion race next season. Our loss is their gain.
