The big blasphemy is tinned plum toms instead of fresh ones.

Scandal in a fry up.

Although there’s nothing worse than if they haven’t fried the fresh ones long enough.

I prefer chopped tin toms anyway I’m afraid, smothered in brown sauce and pepper

we get a lot of north (& south) Irish breakie gear delivered in bulk & freeze it.
(vegtable roll-which is a stick of beef sausage with onions, veg infused, veda bread, chip pastys)
als0 scots food (flat or lorne sausage, black pudding from ramsay of carluke, scots pies, potatoe scones)
Our fry ups vary a fair bit, but my favourite it everything fried, inc. bread & tommys, bloody calorie fest, preferably with cheap sausages.
For those of you that know HP sauce is a shadow of its former self since they dicked with the recipe, Harrys brown sauce from mr.vikki is the real deal.
Tried turkey rashers & regretted it, got to be bacon.
not keen on mushrooms if they are big, needs to be button & fried down.
Bubble is almost a thing of the past now but well worth the trouble if you do.

served on a dish as small as a side-plate, the cafes I've experienced in recent years, serve a fayre of poached free-range eggs on lightly toasted granary wholemeal bread with a cup of ethically sourced organic tea for £15.

I want thick white doorstep bread, fried. Eggs, fried. Bacon cooked until the smoke alarm tells you it's ready and a mug of coffee that burns your lips. I suppose people like me are a dying breed. Clinically obese with arteries clogged with saturated fat and a resting heartbeat of 120.

I guess because they are messy, and if you are not so keen on them, they don't "contaminate" the rest of the breakfast. It doesn't trouble me as my wife doesn't like baked beans so the transfer from her plate to mine is simplified.

There's the 1066 cafe about 10 miles north of Hastings on the A21. It's used a lot for bikers meets and has a big car park, and a layby on the other side of the road for truckers.
And on matchdays, occasionally The Fully Monty on Brighton Road, Coulsdon.
All very nice and reasonably priced.
The trouble is, I'm kind of blemished by nostalgia. I used to remember fried breakfasts being served on a giant platter that required a table of its own to eat at, full of everything perfectly cooked and piping hot in saturated fat and lard. And the doors were just that bit wider than standard for fat b'stads like me. Oh, and could I have semi-skimmed milk in my coffee, as I'm watching the calories

So those two were very much consistent and my favoured establishments.

Knew it well but not been down that way for a while now. Used to shop at the big Sainsburys Sedlecombe Rd, Hastings and enjoy a 'Big Breakfast' there. Used to be great value for a freshly cooked feast. Not sure they still do them?

The Smithfield Cafe in Long Lane is pretty good. Any cafe that lists "fried slice" on the menu is worth a look. During the week it's open 24 hours a day so can get a bit pungent.

I can never fathom out why muslim restaurant/deli/cafe owners have an issue selling pork bacon, whilst their muslim colleagues don't appear to have any qualms about selling liquor at their newsagents/supermarkets/grocery stores

Perhaps due to physical contact? Essential with food preparation but with booze you only touch metal/glass.

Its not just the selling of pork its often because it still needs to be handled, unwrapped, kept in different storage containers, cooked in different pans, served with different utensils etc, my wife is Muslim & although she has no problem with me having ham / bacon etc either I cook it or when she cooks it she does so with all the windows in the kitchen open because of the smell -

Liquor is stored in sealed containers - glass bottles / cans etc so you dont have to make any special arrangement's -

Note to self. Read whole thread or risk repeating what other wiser posters have already said.

Yes I kinda get that DE, one of my wholesalers is a archetypal 80 year old Jewish New Yorker but still eats pork on occasions.

Back in my finance days I took a Jewish client out for breakfast and he ordered a bacon sandwich telling me that he only refused bacon when his wife or mother was around
