As another said, Chicken needs to be treated with caution.
I had to bin chicken a few days IN use by date.
Red meat, particularly steak is pretty hardy.
Bacons a dead give away as it develops a nasty sheen (& smell) when its gone.
Hummus can go well over, just watch out for mold!
Often have cheese in fridge, months over.
Apparantly the sneaky one is rice, already cooked, it'll feck you up.

You're right about the rice. Once cooked it'll be OK if you reheat it one time only, definitely no more. Mrs POG is adamant about this.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

When cheese goes hard it can play havoc with your false teeth and milk gone off is as stinky as s***e and upsets the meals on whewls lady, they sell at discount nearer the sell by date so it doesn't eat into your pension which is a bonus for all the plainly geriatric eagles here

I am more careful with soft cheese. Hard cheese is not a problem; once removed from packing kept in a box in fridge. In the basis that it ages from the outside at perhaps one millimetre per week, just cut edges off for use as you make sandwiches etc.

Eggs. If they float in water bin em. Otherwise they're probably fine. The date stamp is usually cobblers.

Test both ends with your lips. One should be warm one should be cooler. Works for me, although give them a wipe first. Chicken liver is ok but chicken anus isn’t on my to eat list

Any recommendations for really strong hard cheese(not Terry Thomas).

You're asking me what it's all about, and I can't tell you because I don't know what's going on myself.

spent last night reacquainting myself to the pleasures of Roquefort. Probably best at room temperature, it's a reasonably strong blue cheese. The one I'm eating, I've only had a week, but is already out-of-date. It's absolutely divine, and I'm thinking this might be the reason I pile on the weight over Christmas.

My dear wife is certainly not a cheesepare and purchases 'Parmigiano Reggiano' cheese which originates from Parma.

My consumption of cheese these days is confined to 'Sag Paneer' !
