The government could make a start by abolishing one of the awful American imports the No Win, No fee legislation People are entitled to justice and should not be priced out of their day in court otherwise justice is for the rich. So how do you stop spurious legal claims by ambulance chasing lawyers who if a celebrity is involved don't care about the legitimacy of the claim do it for the publicity. Or they sue a council knowing it is cheaper for the council to settle than go to court. The court should have the power to co-op the ambulance chasing lawyer as a defendant and be liable for damages if they lose. Example: Poor person goes to shyster lawyer with ridiculous claim about a celebrity lawyer who doesn't believe it but takes it on in case celeb settles out of court or they get lots of free publicity even if they lose. As for celeb they are shafted even if they win reputational damage has been done and they will not recover their fees as complainer is poor.
This would stop spurious law suits whilst allowing genuine claims Edited by Badger11 (17 Dec 2022 7.56am)

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
