Don'tcha just hate Brendan Guilfoyle

Bet any money that the bid deadline will be extended again because
(quote BG): 'We have some more interested bidders but not any firm cash yet. I am confident....blahblah...the fans have been great...palace is a great club with....'
Yeah well Why don't you name them Guilfoyle instead of playing around and responding to P Diddy stories in such an exuberant way. Any middle-aged man who claims to be a big hip-hop fan is probably lying. If he claims there are many interested bidders who can't provide the cash then that counts as me. Anyone got a fiver spare?

So what should he do if there are no interested bidders on Friday instead of extending the deadline?

Stop extending the deadline and leave it until the seasons over. That at least is a natural cut off point.

The whole deadline thing is pointless. He should be courting prospective buyers and going through the process however long that takes, not setting irrelevant deadlines. If you were a prospective purchaser you would be taking as long as you needed and not speeding up or slowing down because Brenda set a deadline.

Totally agree , the end of season makes sense for everyone, these people won't be rushed into anything and nor would I when parting with 30m when if we go down it could be 15/20m.

This man ruined LEEDS and LUTON he worries me more than the prospect of relegation.

He has had to make a public apology about NW leaving what other lies has he been feeding us.

This roller coaster I am on just won't stop.

Agreed ....there are no parties prepared to buy the club so why keep setting pointless deadlines ?

Incidentally I dont blame Brendan.....he didnt bankrupt Palace...there is only one person I hate and thats the slimy orange one Jordan.

Fair replies - maybe the deadlines have backfired - particularly the first one which was never going to be met by anyone. however this deadline may be significant - if there is no real interest by Friday then the chances of a deal being done by the end of the season are slim - if no one is prepared to put down a proof of intent how serious are the alleged offers - too often other clubs have had interested parties who have evaporated away when they have got to the "show me your money" stage.

We do not have the luxury of time to waste on timewasters.

What is to stop BG and PWC lowering the prices they have requested? By the looks of another deadline being missed, surely the administrators should be looking at lowering the prices in order to gain a buyer before the end of the season. BG has said a buyer before the end of season is the main objective, stalling on a figure people don't want to pay is not going to meet his main objective?!

I'd rather he came out and said we had no interest from anyone if we didn't.

Another exciting pre-season .......

Two different administrators - 2 different criteria.

PwC could not care less if the ground is sold by the end of the season. they have no big deadline. at present the rent is being paid at a high rate. If they do not get what they consider a fair price for the ground then

a. they keep on getting the rent while the club is in business

b. the club goes out of business and they have an asset worth more to be sold.

If you ignore the window dressing about not wanting to put the club out of business etc either way they win

BG on the other hand does want to sell the club however:-

a. someone has to want to buy it and as at today no one has actually made a firm offer. he hasn't put a price on the club - he is waiting for offers - so how can he reduce the asking price? The £10m is not an asking price it is just a sum of money buyers must show they have to show they are serious - that could be spent on the club/the ground/satisfying the FL.

b. He does have some constraints - Agilo are not prepared to negotiate the amount owed to them - £5.5m so any offer is going to have to be at least that. What Agilo will do if there is no offer of that amount is not clear but at present that is what they are insisting on.

c. While it isn't really his concern if any buyer can then afford to run the club the inference given by the FL in our meeting with them was that in order to agree to transfer over the right to play in the league they need to see that the new owners are of sufficiently financial standing to fund the team through the next season - with losses of around £8m that may well put buyers off and nothing can be done about that at all other than reduce losses as much as possible - it may be possible to get it down to something more manageable like £3/£4m

Looking at this scenario. There isn't a buyer for the club because of the ransom demanded for the ground. CPFC then disappear from the face of the earth with PWC still holding on to the ground that can't be used for anything else other than football. Then what ?

Call me a cynical git (many have) but surely there are going to be buyers out there waiting to see what happens at the end of the season. BG has repeatedly said a Championship club is more valuable than a League 1 club, and as we continue to look like we'll be struggling to aviod the drop, why would anyone show their hand too early?

the ground cannot be used for anything other than professional football so long as there is a professional football team to play there. no palace = no problem. it may take a while dragging through the courts but any purchaser of the freehold would be holding a prime piece of real estate which would be worth substantially more than it is now.

Time to go Alan

Agree with the other posters if your selling your house you dont state that theres a 2 or 3 week deadline, and as for unrealistic purchasers of the club, its like someone who views your House with no intention of buying, but just wants to see what your kitchen looks like.My guess is that there vare interested parties they are in turn waiting to see how the season pans out and Brenda is just trying to weasle out a few more buyers.
