The game had everything - seven goals, a penalty saved, two red cards and brawls which included the managers having a pop at each other.

Palace raced into a three-goal-lead. On the stroke of half-time, Tyrone Berry who was making his first-team debut, crossed to the far post and Andy Johnson chested the ball into the net.

A Fabio Petruzzi own goal and a tap-in from Berry from Wayne Routledge's cross at the byline made it 3-0 to the home side.

Antonio Filippini and Filippo Maniero pulled two back for the Italians before they were given a penalty when Tommy Black hauled down a Bresica man in the box.

Goalkeeper Lance Cronin, another debutant, saved the spotkick and then the rebounded effort. Bresica soon made it 3-3 and then came the brawls and red cards.

With a Brescia player on the floor injured, they tried to play the ball out of play but Berry didn't realise this and dispossed the ball off an Italian and went through on goal.

A few rash tackles ensued and Black tangled with Filipinni giving the ref no option but to send the pair off. The row continued all the way to the tunnel where Bresica's assistant boss got involved and was prompty shoved by Kember before the police moved in.

More youngsters were given debuts - Ben Surey, Tariq Nabil and Glen Wilson - before Luigi Di Baggio headed home the winner for the Seria A side.
