Stuart Green has set himself a target of 10 goals for Crystal Palace this term.
The 26-year-old winger has already got off the mark with a direct free-kick in Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Leicester.
And after netting two goals from seven starts and nine bench appearances in an injury-plagued last season, the former Hull City man has his sights on a bigger haul.
"I always set myself a target of 10 goals, which is what attacking midfielders should strive for," he said.
"If I play the majority of games, I’m very confident of hitting double figures. When I woke up this morning, I told myself I had to score.
"It’s only the second game of the season, so maybe I should be a bit more patient. But that’s the way I am."
Green, who is the final year of his contract, knows he must make a big impression on the field if he is to win a new deal.
"I want to stay at this football club a long time, because I feel I’m playing well at the minute and I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here," he said.
"The manager knows that and the chairman knows that, so hopefully we can get something sorted out soon."
