Forward Craig Beattie has had his loan spell from West Brom cut short after the Baggies recalled the striker.
Ishmael Miller's season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury has left the Premier League club short in attacking options.
Beattie goes back to the Hawthorns as cover for strikers Roman Bednar and Luke Moore as manager Tony Mowbray aims to lift his side out of relegation trouble.
Former Celtic star Beattie scored five goals in 15 league matches for the Eagles after arriving in September and played his part in the Eagles' surge up the Championship.
The news comes as a major blow for Palace manager Neil Warnock who was hoping to sign Beattie on a permanent deal in January.
But Warnock will be pleased transfer-listed Shefki Kuqi is in form and fellow frontman Alan Lee is near to returning from injury.
