Crystal Palace threw away a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 at Burnley.
Shefki Kuqi put Palace ahead in the 26th minute when he profited from a mix-up between keeper Brian Jensen and defender Clarke Carlisle to score.
An own goal from Clarke Carlisle after he diverted Paul Ifill's fierce drive extended the Eagles' advantage in the 35th minute.
Burnley pulled a goal back through Carlsile then Graham Alexander's controversial penalty levelled the scores.
Two minutes from time, Thompson put Burnley 3-2 ahead then Jay Rodriguez grabbed the fourth goal in the last minute.
Burnley: Jensen, Williams, Carlisle, Caldwell, Kalvenes, Elliott, Alexander, McCann (Gudjonsson 72), Blake (Eagles 69), Thompson, Paterson (Rodriguez 61).
Not Used: Penny, McDonald.
Palace: Speroni, Clyne, Jose Fonte, Davis, Hill, Oster (Carle 53), Danns, Derry, Ifill, Stokes (Lee 68), Kuqi (Moses 90).
Not Used: Ertl, Rui Fonte.
