Crystal Palace had to settle for a point after a drawing 0-0 at home to promotion-chasing Norwich City.

The Eagles had enough chances to win the game but ended up keeping a sixth successive clean sheet at Selhurst Park and remain in the drop zone.

Norwich started brightly with Henri Lansbury and Andrew Crofts going close before Wes Hoolahan had an effort pushed over the bar by Julian Speroni, who was making his 200th Palace appearance.

Home captain Paddy McCarthy should have got his free header on target from Darren Ambrose's free-kick but glanced it wide on the half hour mark.

Palace upped the tempo in the second period with Canaries keeper John Ruddy saving from Sean Scannell and again from sub Wilfried Zaha.

Five minutes from time, Grant Holt almost snatched an undeserved winner for Norwich but blazed his shot high into the stands.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, Gardner, McCarthy, Wright, Marrow, Ambrose, Danns, Parsons, Scannell (Zaha 67), Vaughan.

Not Used: Price, Barrett, Iversen, Garvan, Easter, Counago.

Norwich: Ruddy, Russell Martin, Barnett, Whitbread, Drury (Tierney 61), Crofts, Fox (Jackson 61), Hoolahan, Lansbury, Chris Martin (Wilbraham 75), Holt.

Not Used: Steer, Korey Smith, Lappin, Ward.
