All this talk about the move took me back to our pre-season friendly with West Ham on the NSC ground in the mid sixties. If memory serves me correct we beat them & their team included Moore, Peters, Byrne etc just after they had won the FA Cup. It was a great atmosphere that day too.

Yes, we actually played them there twice and I went to both games. The first time was August 1964 and we won 4-1. The match was repeated the following August but on that occasion we lost - 1-2, I think?

The West Ham line-up in the programme was:
Standen, Burkett, Bond, Bovington, Brown, Moore, Brabrook, Boyce, Byrne, Hurst, Sissons (it helped to get in the side if your name begun with "B" !!). No Peters .. a bit too early for him?

Palace line-up:
Glazier, Long, Sewell, Howe, Stephenson, Holsgrove, Werge, Whitehouse, Holton, Kellard, Allen
