You would hope our so called scouting system has identified this guy and unless the powers to be have some ambitions elsewhere, then again I would hope some quick (ha! ha!) approach would be made. Knowing Palace if they did fancy him we would be lining him up, or preparing an offer for a few weeks whilst someone else snaps him up. How any premiership, championship or lower club could even contenplate entering a season with only 1 striker is completely behond me! Before anyone comes back and states we nearly signed the guy from Everton, Palace had all Summer to sort it not 30mins before 23:00hrs Thursday evening.

Now we've taken a huge risk if nobody comes in.

I don't like to criticise the powers that be, as I have no idea what goes on around transfers etc however I do have to fully agree with your post.
