On 'Business' long-haul one has flat beds and my word these really are very useful when flying overnight.I have flown 'Business' on the A380 airbus and the toilets at the front are large enough to install a shower, indeed I am led to believe that some airlines provide one on such aircraft. I would accept that flying long-haul in a cramped seat is not an enjoyable experience. Finally gargantuan plaudits for the flight crew of the 'Southwest' airlines aircraft who clearly performed with great professionalism during the emergency.

Can you imagine boarding a plane and turning right!!

Each to their own I suppose but I have never "enjoyed" any flight even in First Class as I can think of better things to do with my time than sitting on an aeroplane which is why I suggested that most people will "tolerate" flying at best

That engine blade failure is the same thing that happened to the British Midland plane that crashed in the UK in 1989 killing 47 people. Even the same side engine. It didn't help that the flight crew shut down the good engine by mistake.

My work/life balance is so hectic that I rarely get a chance to sit down for a few hours, have food and drink brought to me, watch back-to-back films, and enjoy a pretty spectacular view out of the window. Add to that the fact you're probably going somewhere really good, then yes I really enjoy it.

I used to have a job where I flew short haul twice a week. The whole experience from going to the airport to landing at your destination is a pain. I only relax when my suitcase hits the hotel bed. Kodus to the pilot and crew these days planes fly themselves yet when something goes wrong that when the crew really earn their money.

Funny how some people pay thousands of €€€ to fly in a cramped dormitory with anything from 14-60 strangers. Save the money for spending on the trip or if on business negotiate with the company to get the difference between business and economy back as cash. I did this for years and made an absolute fortune out of it. Bought cars, motorbikes and even helped on buying property over a 25 years period. Edited by europalace (19 Apr 2018 1.02pm)

But then again, I dislike driving and going on trains as well. However, as it's necessary to get from A to B, I tolerate it through gritted teeth, especially when B is a significant improvement on A.
