The expert is probably right as things stand but history shows that things have a habit of changing (rarely mentioned for some reason?). ''international trade expert'' ? me bollix ask a History expert. Pan-European empires that either first faltered in Britain or did actually get stopped by the Brits. Western Roman Empire 410AD charlemagne - never got here roman catholic church & spanish armada 1588 Napoleon - done by Wellington 1815 the Kaiser - he failed Hitler - done by Churchill ( with massive help from Stalin ) 1945 Stalin's Soviet Eastern europe - done by Reagan & Thatcher 1989. Merkel's EU - done by Brexit Eze Peasy at Anfield....
