I have often wondered when America was so great that it's important to rediscover that time

As you know, I feel strongly about the sacrifice of our forefathers. I have seen the effect it had on them - my grandfather blown up twice including at Vimy Ridge. My father at Monte Casino. My uncle in the Atlantic fleet. All carried scars, my grandfather carried his leg.

To me 11 November is one of the most important days of the year. It is not one to be forgotten or taken lightly.

If POTUS cannot find a way to arrive on time to the 100th anniversary remembrance with all of his massive resources I believe there is something wrong with the priorities.

And I don't ever remember anyone getting a pasting in the media for having a diplomatic cortege. It's just a fact of city life.

Nothing on the BBC about King Mohammed VI of Morocco falling asleep during French President Emmanuel Macron's Armistice Day speech in Paris. Who cares when you can bash Trump?

I think most of America has come around to the reality that 'American exceptionism' doesn't do them much good.

Now that doesn't mean I don't think there is some truth in it....Their constitution is probably the best governing document for its time ever produced.

Sending your troops aboard to fight for someone's else's freedom (even if it's in your own long term interest) ultimately seems to end up with them breeding a next generation who resents you.....sees you as worse than the actual enemy who butchered your kin.

I can see why isolationism is quite popular in the US.

Even then they get called 'nazis' for not letting in people who ultimately call them 'racists'.

Personally I wouldn't blame the US if they had a permanent middle finger up to the rest of the world.
