With January coming close to an end it would appear the club is gearing up for a big change this summer.

Getting rid of the dead wood, bringing in short term ex players who know the squad just to bolster the numbers and a real lack of ambition for any exciting signings seems to suggest this could be the case.

I can't help thinking that the club are gearing up for a big overhaul and this might mean the end of Roy. Are we are looking to store any cash available to help a new manager get the squad that he needs so we can start again next season?

I think we do need a shake up in the summer and would not be surprised if Roy and Zaha leave. If this happens we should also get in some decent scouts who don't just go for the same players every transfer window!

If this is true it is a big risk we are taking and could come back to haunt us if we go down, although I do believe we will be ok but still a risky strategy.

Just a thought but interested to know what others think will happen?

It’s a valid theory but I think it is more likely this is related to the anticipated cost of the new stand and the need to save money for that.

hope not...we need to keep roy at the club for as long as possible.

roy basically means we stay up every season he is with us.

What a bleak and desperate statement.

If this is what it's come to, bring on the championship now, put us out of our misery. Scraping 38 points a season, three or four home victories a calender year... What's the point?

Don't get your hopes up. Roy will land us 15th by virtue of there being worse teams than us so it's mission accomplished, contract extension guaranteed. And then more of the same.

Staggered that this seems to be the accepted benchmark by some fans as well after all this time. Are we really that unambitious?

like many, I have been looking at our teams. The under 23s and under 18s are producing a lot of talent, which - with rare exceptions (WZ, JW, AWB)- is not getting into the first choice eleven. As well as the UK we are able to loan (who need to be good enough) developing and surplus players not only to UK clubs, but also overseas.

Taking breakthrough as between 19 and 22, with a career of ten years, we need to prove that starting with the Palace Academy will lead to a good career. this is now being shown as more and more a prospect that is being fulfilled.

Therefore, there is a need to export selected players from our squad, to make space. I would love to see a Palace side with an average age of 23, and perhaps home grown talent commanding decent transfer values.

I remember reading an interview with Parish before the window opened with him saying...

“As usual, we begin with the January transfer window. Our squad is in good shape as we have invested significantly in recent windows, but naturally Dougie and I will be looking for suitable additions in areas where we need cover.“

So it doesn’t really surprise me that we’ve not gone out of our way to land a big name or splosh the dosh since the Solanke deal fell through. Although we definitely need cover up front so fingers crossed we get someone through the door.

Agree. The quality of football we are playing is by far the best it’s been since we’ve been in the Prem. We’re just lacking a plan B at the moment because we don’t have the squad depth to make game changing substitutions. The players look well drilled and motivated. Continuity is a good thing which we haven’t had for a long time.

Offloading the dead wood is a good sign. I hope it’s to free some space for 2/3 good signings and to promote a couple of academy players. People are getting their knickers in a twist over lack of transfer activity, but I’d rather we wait until summer and spend wisely rather than panic buy now in the last few days of the transfer window. Let’s give Benteke and Wickham a chance between now and the end of the season and assess the position then. We will not be close to the relegation zone.

My only concern is the quality of our scouting network, however none of us know the transfer budget. It could be an impossible job if the budget is too small.

Roy is doing a great job. Despite some volatility in results and a lack of a goal scorer I don’t feel anxious at all that we will go down. Which contrasts significantly to just about every other season we have had in the Premier League. That is testament to Roy and his staff.

Pushing on?! Come on, we are starting to sound like Charlton fans when they got rid of Alan Curbishley or Bolton when they had had enough of Big Sam. Look where both those clubs are now. What do you mean by that? We’ve already tried by investing £100m+ in 3 years or so.

Progress takes time and is inch by inch unless you have a billionaire philanthropist in the wings. What’s more progress is happening with the club on a more holistic basis when you consider the stadium plans, training ground developments and Academy plans. That’s where the money should go and is.

Let’s be thankful for what we have got and remember where we have come from and who got us there and get behind Parish as there is no doubt he is doing all he can.

As for big changes, I kind of feel like we might be gearing up for spending more money in the summer when you get better value by clearing the boards a bit now, but I for one really hope that change does not involve Roy going anywhere.

The Queen supports Crystal Palace. Perhaps she'll buy the club then legitimately all the money in England shall be ours. Plus all the swans.

My fear is that Parish feels the same. It’s this kind of mindset which could send us down imo. Let’s see where we are after the next two league games. The landscape could of changed significantly by then. I do think we will be alright but under no illusions from me, we are right in it.
