With Adam Faith is on Talking Pictures next Saturday at 8 o'clock. It creaks a bit but is quite a nostalgic watch for those who remember it.

Like many others died young only 63.

When you look them up, what happened to Van Der Walk, Rumpole, Marker Hazell etc. they died over 20 years ago, it's most dispiriting.

What will Talking Pictures show in 20 yeas time I can't think of anything on TV now, usually end up watching the news.

It's already been on once.

Yes, it's of its time and ultimately, a very sad little tale.

Adam Faith embodies the character well, and Ian Cuthbertson is very memorable.

I bumped into Adam Faith once as a kid around the time he was in it. I always remember my nan, who was with me, said 'hello Budgie'.

Totally embarrassing.

In the early 60s my uncle was often mistaken for Adam Faith. There was a slight resemblance except he had dark hair and was 6'4". Maybe stars looked taller on black & white television.

I read that Adam Faith died in Stoke-on-Trent.

I watched us play there once and I totally understand it.

Budgie was the series that got Adam Faith into an acting career, and I loved it in it's day.

He was also brilliant with Zoe Wannamaker in Love Hurts, he played a millionaire plumber and she was a City whizkid turned charity worker. The on-screen chemistry made it stand out above anything else like it.

apparently Adam Faith's last words were: "God, Channel 5 is sh*t."
They're showing black and white Steptoe's on freeview now - they're better than the colour ones, the mid/late sixties episodes, especially the one where they try to move into a middle class area and get bought out to leave - different level.

No, Budgie started in 1971 & Stardust was 1974. He'd been in a couple of small parts before but Budgie was his first lead.
